Plenary Session II (10:00 -12:00) @Room B1
"Ensuring Human Security in Post-Disaster Noto"
Aim of this Session:
More than one and a half years have passed since the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1, 2024. From emergency assistance to longer-term relief and disaster risk reduction, Noto and a broader Ishikawa/Hokuriku region have undergone a complex recovery process, marked by both progress and setbacks. This panel aims to reflect on that journey and tackle the key question: in a region like Noto, where the equitable and effective provision of care for a declining and dispersed population has become a critical issue, how can we ensure human security? Each panelist, drawing on a distinct area of expertise, will explore human security issues from multiple perspectives, including mental health care, infrastructure reconstruction, and the rebuilding of local communities. Together, we will identify key challenges and explore pathways toward rebuilding resilient, secure communities in the face of limited resources and deep-rooted structural problems.
